Helping you find the perfect sleep solution for your new baby!Baby Cribs :: Baby Cribs

Baby cribs are one of your most important purchases for your new baby, find beautiful baby furniture and standard baby crib sets

Standard Baby Cribs or the more traditional rectangular shaped cribs come in a variety of different styles and finish and vary in quality, including iron and sleigh style cribs.

Standard cribs offer the widest choice selection, ranging from classic to contemporary styles including round spindled sides, flat slats, and many more. You'll also find a great selection of baby crib manufacturers for this type of crib including Da Vinci, Angel Line, Childesigns, Evenflo, Storkcraft and more, which means you will not have to spend a fortune to provide your little one with a safe, beautiful crib.

The traditional crib you are looking to purchase will have a single or double drop side. The double drop side will usually be more expensive. You can also purchase a crib that has a drawer underneath which is a great added feature for storage.

It's smart to start shopping around for standard baby cribs a couple of months before the actual baby due date, alot of times your baby's bed will have to be ordered, since stores generally do not keep alot of cribs in stock.

With standard cribs you have a wider selection of crib bedding and mattresses to choose from since they won't have to be expensive custom bedding.

You will also want to choose baby furniture and accessories that will compliment your new baby's crib to make your nursery even more special.

Safety features to look for when purchasing your crib

  1. Crib bars (or slats) should be no more that 2 3/8 inches apart.
  2. Dropsides when lowered should be at least 9 inches above the mattress support.
  3. When dropsides are raised, should be at least 26 inches above the mattress support.
  4. Crib mattress fits snugly with no more than two fingers width between crib side and mattress.
  5. Secure dropside locking mechanism.
  6. No loose or peeling paint, rough corners, edges or splinters.
  7. Rolling casters must be lockable.
  8. Teething rails along side so baby doesn’t chew on the crib.

When you are out shopping for cribs, you will see cribs that have the JPMA certification seal on them, what this means to you is that not only have these standard baby cribs passed the basic safety standards but they have also passed additional voluntary standards setforth by the JPMA (The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association).
