Helping you find the perfect sleep solution for your new baby!Baby Cribs :: Antique Baby Cribs

Antique baby cribs are beautiful but not always safe

While antique baby cribs are beautiful, they should meet all current safety standards to protect your little one.

Many new parents love the idea of using a crib that has been in their family for years, while this is sweet and completely understandable, it's not always the safest choice for your new baby.

It's not a good idea to buy an older crib.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission, lists antique cribs or older cribs as one of CPSC's "Most Wanted". Old cribs or antique cribs can pose a number of dangers to your baby or toddler.

Your baby's safety is your top priority

If you insist on using the older family heirloom antique crib, before you put your baby to sleep in it, please check to make sure it's safe.

A safe crib should meet these standards

  1. A firm, tight-fitting mattress
  2. No loose, missing, or broken hardware or slats
  3. No more than 2 3/8" between the slats
  4. No corner posts over 1/16" high
  5. No cutout designs in the headboard or footboard

However, if you just like the look and feel the antique baby cribs offer, you can find the same classic and timeless style in today's modern baby cribs by looking into the canopy cribs or iron baby cribs, and you won't have the added worry about it meeting current crib safety standards.
